Heather Russell

Executive Director

Mrs. Russell has been the Project Officer at the Atlantic Grains Council since 2011. As the sole employee of the organization, she is responsible for managing the day to day activities as well as working directly with the board, providing guidance and direction.

Peter Scott

Financial Advisor

Recently appointed as AGC’s financial officer in December 2020, Peter currently is the Grain and Oilseed Specialist for NB Department of Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries. He resides in Woodstock, NB and has a small beef operation.

Robert MacDonald

Chairman

Robert MacDonald of Belle River, PE is the Chair of the Atlantic Grains Council. Prior to this Robert served on the AGC Executive for two-years as Member at Large. Robert comes to the position with a strong background in grains and oilseeds and the agriculture sector as a whole. Robert took over his family farm with his brothers in 1984. After years of operating in potatoes and beef the farm shifted production to grains and oilseeds. Utilizing storages previously used to store potatoes along with the addition of more grain storage, he and his brother built up their operation into one of the largest grain and oilseed farms on Prince Edward Island, including storage, drying, and shipping facilities. Robert has previously served on several agricultural industry Boards. He is a past president of the Canadian Horticulture Council (now known as the Fruit and Vegetable Growers of Canada), past Chair of the PEI Potato Board and a past-President of the PEI Federation of Agriculture. Robert also currently serves on the PEI Grain Elevator Corporation Board of Directors.

Neil Campbell

Vice Chair

Mr. Campbell officially joined the team at the Atlantic Grains Council in 2016. Mr. Campbell is the general manager of the PEI Grain Elevators Corporation and is very involved in the agriculture industry in Atlantic Canada.

Caitlin Congdon

Director-at-Large

Caitlin grew up in farming families from Colchester County and the Annapolis Valley of NS, establishing a passion for field crops while studying at NSAC. Caitlin has been with Perennia Food and Agriculture Corp. in Nova Scotia since 2016 and began her current role as provincial Field Crops Specialist in 2020. Caitlin enjoys working with producers to integrate practical and sustainable crop management practices into their production systems. She has immense enthusiasm for the industry and is pleased to be a member of the AGC board.

Eric Theriault

Director-at-Large

Eric is the owner of Eastern Grains Inc., located in Grand Falls, NB. Eastern Grains specializes in the market of quality grains and oilseeds as also has a large farming operation in Grand Falls.

James Kinsman

Director-at-Large

James operates Windcrest Farms just outside of Berwick, Nova Scotia. Windcrest Farms offers dairy and grain products across Eastern Canada with trucking being an important component of their operations. They operate a third-generation dairy operation in the Annapolis valley with 190 cows and have a 2000-acre crop.
